What Is PDA Full Form?
The PDA full form is Personal Digital Assistant. Any mobile device that does not connect with a keyboard is known as a PDA device or Personal Digital Assistant. The fundamental objective of a PDA device is to work as a day planner or an electronic organizer. This device is very easy to use as it is portable, and can be carried to any place. It is equipped for sharing data to and from your PC framework.
PDA is an extension of the PC, not a replacement. These systems can share information with computer systems through a process or service called synchronization. Both the devices will reach out to each other to check for changes or updates to the individual device. The use of Infra-Red and Bluetooth connections enables these devices to be synchronized at all times.
With PDA devices a user can browse the internet, listen to audio clips, watch video clips, edit and modify office documents, and many other services. These devices have a stylus for input and a touch-sensitive screen for output purposes. PDA can make notes, read graphs, connect to the internet, and upload and download.
Smartphones
This type of phone combines the features of a PDA with a mobile phone or camera phone. It gives good progress over other types of mobile phones. Smartphones can run multiple programs concurrently. These phones include high-resolution touch screens, web browsers that can access and properly display standard web pages rather than just mobile-optimized sites, and high-speed data access via Wi-Fi and high-speed cellular broadband can.
Google’s Android, Apple’s iOS, Nokia’s Symbian, RIM’s BlackBerry OS, Samsung’s Bada, Microsoft’s Windows Phone, and embedded Linux distributions such as Maemo and MeeGo. Features of PDA:
Touch Screen – It may have one or two buttons to create shortcuts to the app used. Otherwise, the user will have to enter text by touching or using the pen stylus.
Memory Cards – Earlier PDAs did not have a memory slot but now some PDAs may have a memory card slot and USB flash drive slot.
Wired Connectivity – Earlier PDAs were able to connect to a personal computer via the Serial Port or other devices. Now USB cable is used to connect them.
Wireless Connectivity – PDA also has Wi-Fi wireless and Bluetooth.
Operating System – This is Pre Installed Operating Systems Palm OS, WebOS.
Navigation – Some PDAs may have built-in GPS and some may connect to the GPS externally.
Rugged PDAs – Rugged PDAs include some additional features such as barcode readers, radio frequency identification readers, magnetic stripe card readers, smart card readers, etc.
